PNG and JPEG
The helper provides PNG and JPEG export. JPEG includes a quality control. After saving a screenshot, the helper copies the image to the clipboard and opens the saved image in your default viewer.
OnTime is not Mac-only. You can use the OnTime website in modern browsers on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android, iPhone and iPad. Install OnTime as a web app where your browser supports it, or continue in the browser without installing. Available capture features depend on the operating system, browser and permissions.
OnSnap is a feature inside OnTime. Use the desktop helper to save images and videos on your computer, or use a supported desktop browser to create and share screenshot guides with your existing OnTime account.
Capture the main screen, a selected window or the area inside the transparent desktop frame. Move and resize the frame before capture. Review the image and encoded file size before choosing a filename and folder.

HEIC, JPEG-2000 (.jp2), OpenEXR (.exr), PDF and TIFF appear only when a writable macOS system encoder is available. Available formats are detected on your computer. On macOS you can also open a PNG draft in Apple Preview.
Format availability does not include advanced editing, lossless JPEG-2000 controls, PDF/A or PDF permissions. Capture dimensions depend on the selected screen or area; there is no fixed resolution promised by a package.
The desktop helper supports recording on macOS 13 or later. Record the main screen or the selected frame area, stop recording, review playback and save an MP4 containing H.264 video.
Screen Recording permission is required on macOS; microphone permission is required only when microphone input is enabled. The helper shows separate output and microphone meters inside the camera preview; those helper overlays are not included in the recording. Linux desktop video is unavailable. No package adds extra video formats, higher resolution or separate audio export.
In a supported desktop browser, choose a tab, window or screen through the browser sharing picker. Capture JPEG screenshots as tutorial steps, edit titles and notes, share a guide link or export the guide as PDF. Browser screenshot steps are scaled to a maximum width of 1920 pixels, without upscaling.
This creates a saved step-by-step guide, not a video or audio recording. Desktop helper images and MP4 files stay on your computer and are not automatically uploaded into guides. They do not count toward saved-guide limits.

Free, Pro and Business use the same helper, capture controls, guide editor, sharing and PDF export. Paid packages increase saved-guide capacity, not capture quality or helper features. Upgrading does not install or update the desktop helper.
Where billing is configured, paid subscriptions use Stripe-hosted Checkout and the Billing Portal for payment methods and cancellation. OnTime does not collect card numbers in its own forms. Paid access requires confirmed payment, not merely returning from checkout.
Open OnTime, sign in, then choose Settings > OnSnap > Current package. For Enterprise inquiries, contact sales.
The OnTime web app/PWA and OnSnap desktop helper are different installations. Version 1.0.20 is available for Intel Mac; version 1.0.16 installers remain available for Apple silicon Mac, Windows x64 and Linux x64. The 1.0.20 Intel Mac test release passed automated tests and package integrity checks, but has not been certified by real-device installation testing. Installing the PWA alone does not install the desktop helper.
Choose the installer for your computer. The OnTime OnSnap setup panel can detect a platform automatically; select a Mac processor manually if the browser cannot identify it.
Test builds only: the installers are unsigned; Mac builds are also not notarized and may be blocked by macOS. Install only if you intend to test. A website update does not update an already installed helper.
On Mac, move the helper into Applications and allow Screen Recording in System Settings > Privacy & Security. For microphone input, also allow Microphone access. Fully quit and reopen the helper after permission changes. The OnTime header icon opens the installed helper; X/Esc hides the idle frame and Quit OnSnap exits the helper.
